The More Than A Market initiative was launched in 2015 as a joint initiative by the German Chamber of Commerce in China and the Missions of the Federal Republic of Germany in the People’s Republic of China. Its aim was to showcase the best corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by German enterprises in China and their added value for the Chinese society. In 2023, the More Than A Market Awards return (after its absence in 2022 due to COVID-19) to celebrate the progress and achievements of German companies in China with an expanded focus, namely in the field of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG). The Awards aim to not only provide a platform for enterprises, but also help them better understand ESG, where they stand, and what more they can do to promote and implement ESG actions.
